Woman Parts
I purged the poetry yesterday
With groans and sighs and God-led release
I tore the pages
Half and half and half again.
The
That’s not me
parts.
The
What daughters see
parts.
The
Too much ME, ME, ME
parts.
I purged the poetry yesterday
Repented and kept
pastoral views; the narrow path of Grace;
that been-on-the-mountain shining face.
The
Blind but now I see
parts.
The
What daughters need
parts.
The
In Christ I’m free
parts.
I purged the poetry yesterday;
good woman parts redeemed.

Welcome! Thanks for the comment!
Whoa. Wisdom. Glad I read this. #7 at FMF
Thanks, Susan. Looking forward to reading your post, too. Blessings!
Maybe you should keep the ripped out lines, as part of the story, as you’ve felt it, right or wrong. Not necessarily for publication, but for future private remembrance and reflection. I’ve ripped up such lines in the past, and wish I had some of them now, just as written… Jesus loves the “you” that you honestly expressed in the “ME, ME, ME.” If there was sin in those expressions, He forgives. If there was error, He corrects and straightens our path. And sometimes we even err on seeing His actual perspective, and don’t realize it till later. But all the lines are part of the story.
Blessings and peace to your heart.
Thanks, Sylvia. I was actually editing for publication. The edits will always be a part of me, but it’s not how I want to be remembered; it’s not the influence I want to have. And, yes, Praise God! Jesus forgives, makes all things new, slathers me in grace and gives me His right path to travel and write about! Blessings right back at you, sister!
This is a great poem! So true, there are parts of our stories we need to hold onto and other parts we need to let go. Visiting from FMF #20.
Thanks, Lesley. I’m not sure why I held on for so long … but there is great freedom in letting go. Thanks for reading. Looking forward to reading your post!
